NOTES REGARDING NON-KILN FIRED CERAMIC PHOTOS

"Ceramic Photo Tiles" done with process of "Sublimation":

Photo Tiles that you may find elsewhere on the Web  may be labeled as "ceramic" or "porcelain",  but

may be produced through a process called "sublimation" which is not fired in a kiln.

Sublimation photo tiles cannot be guaranteed for use outdoors for more than 2 or 3 years.

Always ask the company which process they use, "sublimation" or "kiln fired".

C.E.S. DOES NOT PRODUCE PHOTO TILES MADE BY THE "SUBLIMATION" PROCESS.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT  reproduction of colors on the finished photo tile:

Ceramic toners do not have the variety of combinations to produce the millions of colors that digital

photography has given us.  Magenta (red) is made from gold and as such gives a browner hue to the reds.

The reason magenta is used is that the other red (Cadmium) does not mix readily with other toners.

When the toners are fired in the kiln, they change color slightly. This means that the colors on the

porcelain tile to be fired may not look the same as the original photograph.  As the color difference has to be judged

by eye, we cannot guarantee that the final plaque is identical in every way to the original photo.
