TERMS OF SERVICE / REFUND-RETURN POLICY
We Custom Engraving Services (CES) does not offer refunds on our custom made products. We guarantee that your custom engraved product will be engraved to your written specifications, including text to be engraved, approximate size of plaque or wood sign, graphics, photos, and all other details of the marker/plaque/sign being ordered. A general description of the layout for custom engraved plaques or wood signs will be discussed with customer before payment is submitted and sent to customer in writing at time of request for payment by credit card or personal check. Customer is informed of the general design of the plaque or wood sign and engraved text, graphics, etc, placed where space allows, which will be determined by Custom Engraving Services at time of initial contact, with your approval. Please be certain to proof the wording you want engraved on plaques/plant markers/wood signs before submitting your order. ). We will fax or email you a copy of the final layout upon request for proofs before production one time. If errors of spelling or wording are incorrect in the initial proof sent, and put in writing to us by email, we will correct those errors before final production without sending additional proofs. If we produce your product, ship it to you, and errors are made in spellings that are caused by our mistake,or any other specifications agreed on between C.E.S. and customer,we will replace the product free of charge according to terms state below in regard to non-refundable payments.
We spend a good deal of time setting up and typesetting layouts for plaques, wood signs, or plant marker name lists, and processing submitted photos, and therefore payments must be processed before proofs of layouts, or photos, can be sent to you by fax or email, for your approval. We will retain the option, in our discretion, to charge a minimum of $20 to $75 (depending on number of products being ordered, i.e., plaques/plant markers, wood signs)) for additional set up fee for additional proofs of layouts or for Porcelain Photo tiles. Once final approval is given by customer, and full payment is made, we will offer no refunds either before production, or after product is shipped to customer. If after receiving proofs of layouts you wish to change words/names/spellings, or any change of specifications (size of plaques/plant markers/wood signs), or other details of the layouts being sent to you, we may charge an additional set up fee for such changes, as described above. This amount will be applied to final cost of product ordered, and full payment submitted, before production is completed and shipped to the customer. If a mistake is made by the customer in the submitted wording to be engraved on the final product shipped to you, you will be responsible for the cost of replacement of the product, and your mistakes will be corrected on a re-do of the product.

Please be aware that Custom Engraving Services specializes in "hand engraving". Our products are not laser or "machine" engraved.
All products have a "handmade" appearance and that is precisely our intent. (I.e., they do not have a "machine made" appearance.) Proofs of typesetting of plant marker names, or text to be engraved on a plaque or wood sign can only be shown for purposes of spell checking and not to be taken as a "proof" of overall appearance of final engraved product applied to Corian or wood substrates. You may request a sample of a plant marker be sent to you for your inspection for a nominal fee of $20.00 including shipment. If an order is placed the $20.00 fee will be deducted from the total order.

When submitting these specifications through written communication, please be sure you are ordering the appropriate size of the plaque or plant marker, and color of the Corian Plant Marker or Plaque you wish to have made, so that the size of product ordered is appropriate for the amount of wording/graphics/photos included in your request for a custom engraved plaque/plant markers/wood signs. These issues will be discussed by telephone or email during your initial contact with C.E.S. at which time one proof will be sent upon request at no charge. Subsequent request for additional proofs will be charged, at a rate of $20 to $75 (see additional info on this subject below).

RETURNS FOR CORRECTION OF SPELLING ERRORS:
Engraved text, size of plaque or wood sign, color of Corian® (with ‘beveled' or ‘rough' edge), photos to be included, or graphics to be engraved must be submitted by customer in writing using our order forms and/or through email, or in a Microsoft Word or Excel document. If an error is made in engraving of text on the plaque or sign ordered and the error is the fault of Custom Engraving Services, we will replace the product at no cost to you contingent upon return of the original plaque or wood sign if we request you to do so. (We may also accept a photo of the item showing the spelling error.)
If the error was due to incorrectly submitted text by the customer, or other specifications of the plaque or sign being ordered were incorrectly submitted in writing, or omitted by customer, customer must submit additional payment to have plaque or sign re-done and re-shipped to customer. In that case, we do not require customer to return the custom product.
PLEASE NOTE:
Wood Signs as shown on website have been ordered by previous customers. No two wood signs will look exactly the same as each sign is cut from different Aromatic Eastern Red Cedar boards. Some signs have bark remaining on edges ("live edge"), some do not, and each sign is irregular in shape. (no two wood signs will have the same irregular shape.) Graphics and text will be engraved on the wood sign where space allows, determined by Custom Engraving Services at time of production, with approval by customer in writing. Each custom wood sign will be made from available cedar wood boards. Section of wood board, layout chosen, will be determined by amount of text and graphics to be included on the Wood Sign. Text to be engraved and requested graphics must be submitted in writing when payment is submitted.
Products damaged in shipment will be retrieved by the shipping service provider chosen by Custom Engraving Services. (In most cases, USPS Priority mail, or Federal Express will be the chosen shipper, depending on size and weight of product). If the package arrives damaged, and the product inside the box is broken or damaged in any way, USPS, or Federal Express will retrieve the package for inspection and return it to Custom Engraving Services at no cost to customer. After inspection of the returned product by Federal Express and Custom Engraving Services, if it is determined that product was indeed damaged in shipment, C.E.S. will send a re-manufactured product to customer at no expense to the customer.
Custom ordered Porcelain Photos or MetalPhotos included with plaque or as stand-alone products:
Important note on color reproduction on kiln-fired Porcelain Photos:
Ceramic ink toners used in the Porcelain Photos process do not have the variety of combinations to produce the millions of colors that digital photography has given us. Magenta (red) is made from gold and as such gives a browner hue to the reds. The reason magenta is used is that the other red (Cadmium) does not mix readily with other toners. When the toners are fired in the kiln, they change color slightly. This means that the colors on the decal to be fired may not be an exact color match of the printed photo, on the finished Porcelain Photo. As the color difference has to be judged by eye, we cannot guarantee that the final plaque is identical in every way to the original photo.
Photos submitted by customer for reproducing on either color or black and white porcelain photos or MetalPhotos are accepted "as is". The quality and appearance of the final reproduction will only be as good as the original photo submitted. (See "Submitting Photos"). Every effort is made to "clean up" damaged or faded photographs. Adjustments may have to be made to the photos submitted to correct contrast or brightness, cropping, or other minor image adjustments. Any adjustments made to the photos will be emailed to the customer upon request for their approval before final reproduction is made. Payment must be received in advance before going to production or sending proofs for approval. Major image corrections or editing are the responsibility of the customer and should be made prior to submitting photo to Custom Engraving Services. If major editing on the photo is needed, there will be a fee applied of $20.00, which will be applied to full cost of porcelain photo tile order. In the event that major image editing is requested, or preliminary cropping/shaping of photo has been sent to customer, and photo submitted cannot be improved (we cannot increase resolution of the original photo sent by customer), we shall, in our discretion, impose or retain the nominal charge of $20.00 for our investment of time and labor to submit a proof of work done on the original photo to the customer. This fee will be non-refundable, in our discretion. Proofs submitted to customer, whether for preliminary approval, or final production of photo tile, are copyright protected by Custom Engraving Services. They may not be used to submit the edited photo to another company for final production.
AS A FINAL NOTE, WE DO NOT OFFER REFUNDS FOR FINAL CUSTOM ENGRAVED PRODUCTS THAT MAY BE PERCEIVED BY CUSTOMER AS VISUALLY "NOT AS EXPECTED" AS OUR WEBSITE CLEARLY SHOWS PHOTOS OF FINISHED PLAQUES, MARKERS, HEADSTONES, ETC, AS CREATED BY CUSTOM ENGRAVING SERVICES FOR PAST ORDERS. Time of production of products ordered, and shipped, will vary from 10 days to up to 4 weeks from time of final approval by customer and Custom Engraving Services and initial or final payments are submitted, depending on number of products being ordered, and if add on products such as porcelain or metalphotos must be ordered through our associate providers of these optional products. Once approval is given by customer of proofs sent for examination, in writing, the deadline for changes to wording and size specifications, color or size of substrate being used for the product order, customer is given a three day extension period before final production is initiated in case of any last minute changes. No extension is given for submitted changes to these specifications, approved and paid for by customer, past 3 days from final approval and payment submitted. Customer may waive this grace period to make changes if final product is requested to begin immediately after approval and payment is submitted, so as not to delay production and shipment of final completed product. We are a small company and production is reserved on a "first come/first served basis.
